A little hot!

August 26, 2012

The water is finally a little warm – 87-91. The bite seems to just be from 10-12:30. With the full moon approaching they were dropping the baits yesterday. We were able to get two sails to the boat to release and had another one jumping. A couple days earlier we were able to release six sails, even with half our effort on getting one on the fly. A few dorado are still being found. We need some good cloud cover to turn things back on. I’m sure the fish are just down deep.

August 21st – the tuna are here!

August 20, 2012

A great run of tuna going on out there. One boat was claiming some caught to 80# the other day. Most of them are in the 15-25# range. Still some good dorado action out there, especially if you can find some debris. Sails and striped marlin too. The weather hasn’t been hot that much. We’ve had a few good rains. The hills are very green and starting to flower. There were a ton of small dorado in close a couple weeks ago. I fished with Team Telamon and we were able to catch and release five sails on day one to take the jackpot that day and the tournament. Seems like we’re at 100% lately on circle hooks. Not sure when everyone else is going to give up on their ways.

Tight Lines,
