July 12th

Had another great tournament down here. Unfortunately didn’t win this one. We knew we were handicapped on day two with the shorter day and my friend’s boat maxing out at 9 knots. We found nothing on day one, probably needing the captain to b-line it a little straighter out to the more productive grounds. On day two we started down near Haystack, with a number of other boats The fish were there. We had to shake off with a few keepers about 14 dorado, but caught a nice 225# marlin and two sails. Missed about four though which was a little painful, but they were small fish. I like to blame the finicky bites on the full moon. Made it out with my father and friend Aaron on his boat on Thursday, along with another client. We released a nice 150# marlin and caught three dorado. One was 38# and the other a whopping 48# fish. A 49# fish was caught in the tournament. One tuna was weighed in at 16#. I heard of a few caught the day before and one larger one lost. My friends had a banner day yesterday on large dorado and sailfish. We’ve been catching a lot of small dorado in close and a few sails. Yesterday the weeds came in with a lot of medium-sized dorado. The blue water has moved right into shore. Things are changing daily, but overall the fishing is pretty good. The weather has been great and not that hot. We should see some rain here soon.

tight lines,

Bryan
