Well, the 350# Black turned out to be a 180# Striped marlin. Some dorado to 30# were reported … maybe mid-20#s. Will be out this week fishing hard!
adios,

We ‘killed it’ a the Island yesterday. We landed about a dozen nice fish. The boils never came up, but we consistently caught fish on the jigs. Small dorado were caught to the south, but we are still a week or two away from any bigger fish.

We are getting a slight continual north-west breeze and maybe the tides too have kicked out all the warm water. Maybe it sunk a bit. The water is only 65 just offshore. Barely getting to 70 farther out. Just last Sunday we had water to 78. Lots of small dorado, but our biggest was 10#. Only a few bigger ones being caught, and I really haven’t heard of a billfish caught yet. We are seeing a few. Still lots of yellowtail at the Island, with the fish biting at times.
tight lines,

Looks like a nice plume of warm water is headed out way. Abel said he caught a 20# dorado today, so maybe we’ll start seeing some size this week, along with some marlin. A few large yellowtail are being caught off of San Antonio. There are plenty at the Island but they weren’t biting the jigs yesterday. I hooked one on a small blue and white Megabait jig. Lots of barracuda, mackerel, and red fish. Will be looking to taste some dorado soon!
